Entrance t-junction R512 & R104, Paddle Power Rd, Broederstroom Hartbeespoort.

Our entrance is off the t-junction of the R512 & R104, diagonally opposite the Sasol garage. Look for the signage for Harties River Hiking Trail/The Rusty Feather/Paddle Power.

With all the road works, it can be hard to spot – if lost, stop at the farmstall building and ask for Paddle Power – our road entrance is just to the right of the farmstall on the top of the T-junction.

EVENT TERMS & CONDITIONS

By purchasing an entry ticket and participating in the Event, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. GENERAL

  • This is a non-timed fun event. No official timing will be recorded and no prizes will be awarded based on finishing position. Participants may record their own times if they wish.
  • Participation is subject to the completion of a Participant Indemnity Form for each individual.
  • No licence, qualification or special experience is required to participate in the trail.
  • All participants take part entirely at their own risk and are responsible for ensuring that they are physically capable of completing the route.
  • Participants must follow all instructions given by Event Organisers, trail officials, venue staff and guides.
  • Right of Admission Reserved.
  • The Event Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any person whose behaviour is considered unsafe, disruptive, abusive or inappropriate, without refund.

2. TRAIL & ROUTE

The Harties Hiking Trail 6km route is a relatively easy, there-and-return route, predominantly on jeep track. The route includes a moderate incline to the turnaround point and is mostly downhill on the return.

The trail passes through areas of natural habitat and multiple private properties. Participants must remain on the designated route and respect all private property, wildlife, livestock and other trail users.

No Dogs

The trail is NOT dog friendly.

Dogs are not permitted on the trail due to wildlife, livestock and the route passing through multiple private farms. Please do not bring dogs to participate in the trail.

3. WEATHER & EVENT CHANGES

The Event will generally continue as planned in light rain or ordinary wet-weather conditions.

However, the safety of participants, staff and the public takes priority. The Event Organiser reserves the right to delay, alter, shorten, suspend or postpone the Event if weather conditions, trail conditions, lightning, flooding or any other circumstances make the Event unsafe.

If the Event is postponed to a new date for safety reasons, all valid tickets will automatically be transferred to the new Event date.

No refunds will be issued if the new Event date is unsuitable for a ticket holder. Ticket holders may, however, transfer their ticket to another person in accordance with the ticket-transfer provisions below.

The Event Organiser’s decision regarding weather and participant safety will be final.

4. NO REFUNDS

All ticket sales are final and strictly non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

No refunds will be provided due to:

  • Personal circumstances or a change of plans;
  • Failure to attend the Event;
  • Late arrival or withdrawal from the Event;
  • Inclement weather, including rain or lightning;
  • A ticket holder being unable or unwilling to attend a postponed Event date;
  • Changes to the Event route, format, schedule or programme;
  • Any other circumstances where the Event proceeds, is postponed or is otherwise dealt with in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

Purchasing a ticket constitutes acceptance of this no-refund policy.

5. TICKET TRANSFERS / SUBSTITUTIONS

Tickets may be transferred to another person at the ticket holder’s request, subject to the following:

  • The original ticket holder must notify the Event Organiser of the change before the Event.
  • Transfers must be arranged via hello@rustyfeather.co.za.
  • The new participant must complete the required Indemnity Form before participating.
  • The original ticket holder remains responsible for ensuring that the Event Organiser receives the required transfer information.
  • No additional fee will be charged for a standard ticket substitution unless otherwise communicated by the Event Organiser.

Tickets may also be transferred to another person if the original ticket holder cannot attend a postponed Event date.

Tickets may not be exchanged for cash or refunded.

6. VENUE & ALCOHOL

The Event takes place at a licensed premises.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited for persons under 18. Don’t Drink and Drive. Drink Responsibly.

  • No “car-bar”, picnics or outside food or beverages are permitted.
  • No outside alcohol is permitted.
  • The Rusty Feather will have food and beverages available for purchase on the day, together with a full bar.
  • Broederstroom Country Market may also have additional food and beverage vendors.
  • No illegal substances are permitted.
  • No weapons are permitted.
  • Aggressive, abusive, threatening or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

7. EVENT VENUE

The Event is hosted at The Rusty Feather, a rustic country venue situated on the banks of the Highveld Crocodile River.

Participants can enjoy the surrounding countryside, wildlife, riverfront setting and morning festivities. Food, beverages and other offerings will be available at the venue on the day.

Toilet facilities and secure parking are available at the start/finish venue.

8. ENVIRONMENT & RESPONSIBLE PARTICIPATION

Our ethos is:

“Take pictures and memories, leave nothing behind except footprints.”

Please do not litter on the trail. Participants are expected to respect the environment, private properties, wildlife and fellow participants.

Please take all personal belongings and rubbish with you and help us leave the trail better than we found it.

9. LATE ENTRIES

Late entries on the day may be accepted subject to availability and will be charged an applicable late-entry surcharge per person.

The Event Organiser reserves the right to refuse late entries if the Event has reached capacity.

10. SAFETY & EVENT CHANGES

The Event Organiser reserves the right to cancel, postpone, delay, modify or alter the Event, including the route, start time, format or activities, where reasonably necessary due to:

  • Severe or unsafe weather conditions;
  • Lightning, flooding or unsafe trail conditions;
  • Government directives or restrictions;
  • Conditions on private properties or the trail;
  • Safety concerns;
  • Emergency situations; or
  • Any other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Event Organiser.

Every effort will be made to communicate material changes to registered participants as soon as reasonably possible.

Where the Event is postponed, the provisions relating to automatic ticket transfer and no refunds in Section 3 will apply.

11. PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY

Participants are responsible for:

  • Arriving at the venue with sufficient time to register and start the trail;
  • Wearing suitable clothing and footwear;
  • Carrying sufficient water for the route;
  • Following the designated trail;
  • Following safety instructions;
  • Respecting private property, wildlife, livestock and other participants; and
  • Taking reasonable care of their own personal belongings.

The Event Organiser is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property.

12. AGE & ALCOHOL RESTRICTIONS

Participants under 18 must comply with any applicable age requirements for the Event and venue.

No alcohol will be served or supplied to anyone under the age of 18.

Proof of age may be requested.

13. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By purchasing a ticket and/or participating in the Event, the participant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

The Event Organiser reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary, provided that such changes do not unlawfully prejudice ticket holders.
